Glyphosat is the most commonly used broad spectrum herbicide in the world at the moment. It works against weeds. It is available under different trademarks such as Roundup on the market. There is a possibility that, when applying glyphosate that, it can also get into the soil and water. Gyphosate and the metabolite AMPA can be found in the water.
The degradation of glyphosate occurs in the main by microorganisms in the soil. The degradation product is AMPA. AMPA is much more stable than the glyphosate itself. For this reason, the degradation product can be found more often in groundwater.
