ESBO in food

analysis: organic contaminants

Epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) is used as a plasticiser in sealants and plastics. The sealants and plastics are used, for example, in twist-off glasses for an airtight seal of the food to be protected by the packaging. They may move out of the covers and get into the food. This is especially true for fatty foods.
