mycotoxin: Patulin in fruit

analysis: mycotoxins

The Mycotoxin Patulin is present in fruits and generally in food. Mostly it can be detected in brown, rotten apples, but sometimes in peaches or tomatoes. Patulin is relatively heat and acid resistant. This is the reason why you can also find it in apple products like juice or cidre. During tests made on animals, negative effects on the gastrointestinal system were found as well as edema in various organs.
