You can divide fusarium toxins into three groups. Fumonisins, Trichothecene and Zeralenon. Like all fusarium toxins Zeralenon is a typical field toxin. This toxin is mostly found on corn, sometimes on cereals or soy beans. It gets on our plate direcly through these products or inderectly because of contaminated fodder. The toxin is concentrated in the liver, kidneys, eggs and milk of animals. Zeralenon has been found to have an oestrogenic effect on pigs, and there are indications that humans react sensitively to this toxin.
