Cyclo-di-BADGE (CdB) consists of bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE). It is created as a by-product in the synthesis fo epoxy resin. The epoxy resins are used to coat tin containers for foodstuffs. Because the chemical is fat soluable, it can be found in fatty foods, especially things like tuna. So far there is little toxilogical data for this substance and no legal maximum value. The BfR (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung) maintains that there is a possible risk in an above averrage consumption of these foods and has carried out a risk assessment. It considers a cyclo-di-BADGE (CdB) consumption of 90 µg per person per day to be tolerable.
